

She was born on November 6, 1936 in Springfield, the daughter of Harvey and Edith (Pourchot) Womack.
Marilyn was a graduate of Buffalo Tri City High School. She went on to work for State of Illinois and later retired from the Department of Commerce and Community Affairs. She worked part-time as a house parent with Sparc and later became house manager. Marilyn was a member of Wesleyan Holiness Church on Bruns Lane. She also belonged to the Springfield Landlords Association. Marilyn enjoyed garage sales, flea markets, gospel music, and had a great love for flowers. She was very kind and caring to those who knew her best.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Evelyn M. Johnson and Roberta M. Hobbs, and brothers, Robert “Bob” and Ernest LaVerne Womack.
Marilyn is survived by her son, W. Lee (Cheryl Edenburn) Scott of Athens; daughter, Rebecca (Joseph Mitchell) McCune of Springfield; grandchildren, Sonja Killebrew, Justin Scott, Jessica Newton, Jonathan (Katie Elliott) McCune and Joshua Lee McCune-Mitchell; brother, Rolla J. Womack; sisters-in-law, Marilyn and Virginia Womack; nine great-grandchildren; and close cousin, Lois Shaw.
Visitation: Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, March 15, 2021 at Boardman-Smith Funeral Home, 800 South Grand Ave. West, Springfield. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, there will be limited capacity.
Funeral Ceremony: 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at Boardman-Smith Funeral Home, 800 South Grand Ave. West, Springfield, with Brother Wilson Douglas and Brother Jason Ellis of Wesleyan Holiness Church officiating. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, there will be limited capacity.
Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
