

Marion A. "Mike" Myerscough, 87, of Springfield, died on February 3, 2018, at Regency Care. Mike was a middle child of nine children of the late Joseph and Elenora Young Myerscough. He was born December 6, 1930, in Taylorville, IL. He graduated from Taylorville High School and attended Browns Business College. He served in the United States military during the Korean War. Mike married Frances D. Taylor on March 3, 1951. Together they owned and operated Murphy Rug and Furniture Cleaners and the Persian Rug Center for 50 years. Mike was a credit manager for Sears Roebuck, Montgomery Ward, and Boyds Clothing Store throughout the Midwest for many years before that. Mike enjoyed his food, his work, his family, his dogs, his Illini, his golf, and traveling the world with Fran. He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances D. Myerscough; his son, Thomas R. Myerscough; brothers, Joseph, Gerald, and Duane Myerscough; his twin sister, Mary Ellen Myerscough; and sister, Theresa Wiseman. Surviving Mike are his son, Michael R. Myerscough of Sarasota, FL; daughter, Sue Myerscough (husband, L. Robert Mueller) of Springfield, IL; four grandchildren, Sarah Jane Myerscough-Mueller (husband, Bryan Bylica) of Chicago, IL; Lauren Elizabeth Myerscough-Mueller of Springfield, IL; India M. Myerscough of Hawaii; and Reed G. Myerscough of Springfield; his brother, Merle Myerscough of Charleston, IL; his sisters, Margaret Tazioli of Highland Park, IL and Carol Huber of Hillsboro, IL; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mike and Fran spent the last year and a half of their lives surrounded by the love, compassion, and care of the staff at Regency Care. The family thanks each and every person at Regency who was involved in their care. Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center. Private family ceremonies were held.
