

Marjorie Kathryn Moore, 91, of Springfield, passed away at 12:45a.m. on Friday, October 12, 2012. She was born February 3, 1921, in Downers Grove, Illinois, to Joseph J. and Antoinette P. (Shroka) Ciohon. She graduated from Downers Grove High School in 1939. During World War II, Marjorie worked for ElectroMotive Corp., a manufacturer of diesel engines for Navy ships. Later she was employed by Western Electric and Illinois Bell. She married the love of her life, Robert E. Moore, on October 1, 1949 at St. Joseph's Church in Downers Grove. She and Robert just celebrated 63 years of marriage. During their life together, Robert and Marjorie made their home in Oak Park IL, Kalamazoo MI, Colorado Springs CO, Murray Hill NJ and Springfield, where they have lived for 47 years. She is survived by her husband Robert, two sons, Steven and Timothy, two daughters, Judy Wingler and Cathleen (Kevin) Ray, all of Springfield. There are 4 grandsons, Joseph Nicoll of Salem NH, Christopher Wingler of Springfield, Timothy Scheufele of Peoria and Matthew Ray of Springfield. There are several nieces, nephews and cousins. A brother, Robert Ciohon, of Gillette WY, preceded her in death. Marjorie was a longtime member of Christ the King Church and Elks Ladies #158. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and considered raising a family to be the greatest joy of her life. She enjoyed dining out with family and friends, hosting family gatherings, shopping trips, and was fond of home decorating, crafts and collecting teddy bears. She particularly enjoyed the many hours at home she spent listening to her husband playing the piano and organ. She will be greatly missed by her loved ones, but always remembered as a devoted wife and mother who was always there for the family she cared for so much. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 5:00 8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 15, 2012 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 5:00 p.m. Funeral Mass: 10:30am on Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at Christ the King Church, 1900 Barberry Dr., Springfield with Rev. Joseph Ring, celebrant.
