

Mark F. Hoffman, 61, of Springfield, passed away on Sunday, July 25, 2010 at his residence after a 9 year courageous fight with cancer. Mark was born April 9, 1949 in Ames, IA, the son of Paul Fredrick and Jane Louise Battey Hoffman. He married Maureen Frances Gillespie on January 27, 1973 in Champaign at St. John�s Chapel, Newman Center. Mark graduated in 1967 from Kirkwood High School in Kirkwood, MO and earned his Bachelor�s Degree in Geology from the U of I in Champaign in 1972. He worked as a network manager for the IL State Treasurer�s Office after working for LRS as a consultant for many years. He also owned and operated Bushwacker Limited in his early years. Mark was an Eagle Scout and was known as a kind, intelligent, humorous man. He was very family oriented and was a great father. He enjoyed working on his computers, geology, traveling, nature, camping, spelunking, kayaking, cross country skiing and loved fireworks. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Maureen Frances Hoffman of Springfield; one son, Robert F. Hoffman of Springfield; one daughter, Marjorie Hoffman of Columbia, MO; three sisters, Lynn (husband, Cal) Jansen of Selah, WA, Marcy (husband, Kris) Ludington of Grayslake and Betsy (husband, Chris) Rubak of Barrington; one aunt, Marian Root; one uncle, Richard Hoffman; four nieces, four nephews, one great nephew and many cousins. Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 31, 2010 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Family will receive friends following the ceremony until 4:00 p.m. Burial will be held privately at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Lincoln Memorial Gardens, 2301 E.
