Mark A. Jones

Mark was born January 20, 1959, in Springfield, IL, the son of Alvin Earl and Barbara Charlotte England Jones. He married Juanita (Fox) Sergent on July 10, 1987, in Springfield, IL.

Mark graduated from Virden High School and was employed with the New Berlin School District for many years until his retirement in 2012. He also worked for Capitol City Vending driving a truck route, which he loved. Mark was proud of being a registered organ donor and was able to give the gift of his corneas. He enjoyed NASCAR, any auto racing, muscle cars, and being out on the water in his boat. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, loved blues music and enjoyed his favorite vacation, Keeping the Blues Alive Cruises.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mark is survived by his wife, Juanita Jones of Loami; sons, Ryan (Kourtlyn Chambers) Sergent of Springfield, Todd (Marnie) Sergent of Fayetteville, GA, and Cameron Jones of Garden City, CO; grandchildren, Breanne South, Laila Sergent, and Violet Sergent; two great-grandchildren; siblings, Elaine (Mike) Robinson of Chatham, Jennifer Basham of Jacksonville, IL, Steve Jones of Pawnee, Gina (Scott) Taylor, and Chuck (Christy) Jones of Effingham, IL; several nieces, nephews, close friends, and neighbors.

Visitation and Funeral Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 9:30 until 10:45 a.m. on Monday, April 24, 2023, at Butler Funeral Home-Springfield, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield, IL. A funeral ceremony will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Josh Rhea officiating.

Cremation will be provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center following ceremonies.
