Mark was born June 7, 1966, in Burkesville, KY, the son of William and Betty Norris Smith.
He graduated from Athens High School and earned his associate degree from Lincoln Land Community College. Mark began working at Stevens Implement when he was 16 years old and worked there his entire career as a John Deere mechanic. He was a hardworking, simple guy who enjoyed spending time with his family and his dog, Diamond.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his daughter, Jennylynn Smith; siblings, Jim Smith of Athens, Beverly (Beth) Curtis and Tim Smith, both of Springfield; aunt, Martha; and many nieces and nephews.
Cremation was provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies.
Graveside Ceremony: 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 4, 2021, at West Cemetery in Athens, IL with Pastor Ken Gennicks officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
