Mary Ann Martinez, 71, of Springfield, passed away at 12:15 p.m. on Monday, September 24, 2018 at Memorial Medical Center. Mary Ann was born on August 24, 1947 in Fairmont City, IL, the daughter of Edward and Margaret Szakacsi Martinez. Mary Ann was a 1964 graduate of St. Teresas High School in East St. Louis. She was employed by AT&T for 30 years. Animals were important to Mary Ann, especially cats and dogs. She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Daniel Marchan; brother, Edward Martinez; and sister, Vivian Bradley. She is survived by her wife, Dee Oster of Springfield; step-daughter, Lena (husband, Danny) Marchan; grandchildren, Layla and Cody; sister, Margaret Harvey of Austin, TX; and brother, James (companion, Cindy Baur) Martinez of OFallon, MO. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service. Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 28, 2018 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 245 North Amos Avenue, Springfield with Rev.
