Mary E. Black, 95, of Springfield, died Thursday September 18, 2025 at her home. She was born on Sept 24, 1929 in Oxville, IL., to Harlan F. Stinebaker, and Gladys J. Stinebaker. Mary married Charles E. Black on July 31, 1949 in Jacksonville, Il, he preceded her in death in 2017.
Mary graduated from Jacksonville High School. She was a very loving, caring mother and homemaker. Mary was a member of Cotton Hill United Methodist Church (formerly Woodside United Methodist Church). Mary enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, working in the yard, cooking and making new recipes, watching Fighting Illini basketball and spending time with her family.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one sister and one nephew. She is survived by her two daughters: Susan (Gary) Dameron and Kim (Bob) Collebrusco all of Springfield.
Per her request private services were held with burial at Oak Ridge Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Cotton Hill United Methodist Church, 5931 North Cotton Hill Road, Springfield, IL. 62703.
