

Mary Finigan, 68 of Springfield died at 1:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 20, 2004 at St. John’s Hospital Hospice. Mary was born May 6, 1936 in Odin, IL the daughter of Michael and Camille Scarpulla Pizzuto. She married John T. Finigan July 29, 1954; he preceded her in death on January 26, 2001. Mary attended Odin High School graduating Valedictorian of her class and also received many vocal awards during her high school years. She was employed by J.C. Penny's in customer service; she retired in 1997 after 20 years. She was a member of St. Aloysius Church for thirty-two years. She served as President of Pleasant Hill PTA. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers: Anthony Pizzuto and Joseph “Roland” LeJuerne and one grandson: Matthew Goldbranson. She is survived by two sons: Gregg (wife, Mary) Finigan of Springfield, Gary (wife, Marie) Finigan of Naperville; three daughters: Gayle Finigan of Springfield, Gloria (husband, Eric) Goldbranson of Darien and Glenda (husband, John) Betit of Kintnersville, PA; eleven grandchildren; one great grandchild; two sisters: Virginia (husband, Bob) Herell of Midland, TX, Rose (husband, Bob)Bowers of Engelwood, CA; one brother: Ralph (wife, Sybil) Pizzuto of Panama City, FL and several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive friends from 5-8:00 p.m. Friday, July 23, 2004 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 5:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, July 24, 2004 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 2119 N. 20th St., Springfield, with Rev. Donald Meehling, celebrant. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association, Always & Forever Memorial Honor Program, P.O.
