

Mary M. Lorber, 90, of Springfield, died at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, May 30, 2004 at Capitol Care Center. Mary was born June 24, 1913 in Springfield, the daughter of William E. and Mary C. Stevens O’Brien. She married Carl L. Lorber; he preceded her in death May 9, 1996. Mrs. Lorber had been employed by Sangamo Electric for 10 years. She was a member of St. Katharine Drexel Parish at St. Patrick Catholic Church, CD of A., St. Patrick’s Altar and Rosary Society and a former member of St. Louise de Marillac Guild. She enjoyed bingo, bunco, dancing and bowling. She was also preceded in death by her parents and sister, Catherine Johnson. She is survived by two daughters: Mary Ann (husband, James) Nemecek of Springfield, Carol (husband, Ronald) Speck of Peoria; one son: Carl L. Lorber, Jr. of Charleston, IL; eight grandchildren; three great grandsons and one great granddaughter. Cremation was accorded by the Cremation Tribute Center. Memorial Mass was held at 9:00 a.m. Thursday, June 3, 2004 at St. Katharine Drexel Parish at St. Patrick Catholic Church with Rev. Msgr. John A. Renken, V.G. and Rev. Msgr. Kenneth C. Steffen. Burial was at Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Katharine Drexel Parish at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 700 S. 12th St. Springfield, IL 62703. The family of Mary M. Lorber is being served by Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield.
