Mary Pat Madonia

Mary Pat was born on April 7, 1948, in Evergreen Park, IL, the daughter of William and Margaret Jane “Polly” (Pollock) Bland. She married Thomas Gene Madonia, Sr. on August 30, 1969, in Springfield. He preceded her in death on November 21, 2002.

Mary Pat graduated from Ursuline Academy and Lincoln Land Community College. She worked as a registered nurse at both Memorial Medical Center and SIU for over 40 years. Mary Pat was known as a little league mom, and she was a dedicated mother and homemaker for her family. She was a devoted Nannie to her 10 grandchildren and was an excellent cook.

Mary Pat was also preceded in death by her parents, and brother, John Bland.

She is survived by her sons, Tom (Katie) Madonia, Jr. of Rochester, Mo (Sherri) Madonia, and Nick (Christine) Madonia, both of Springfield; grandchildren, Tynan, Nick Jr., Gretchen, Abby, Adam, Tommy, Grace, Ryan, Matthew, and Luca; brother, Tom (Jeannette) Bland of Springfield; sister-in-law, Jeanne (Rich); brother-in-law, Sam (Alice); and nieces and nephews, Kelly, JC, Billy, Stacey, and Anne.

Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 13, 2023, at Church of the Little Flower, 800 Adlai Stevenson Dr., Springfield, IL. Visitation will begin with a prayer service.

Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 14, 2023, at Church of the Little Flower with Rev. Allen Kemme, celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
