

Mary Evelyn Rechner, 84, of Springfield, died at 4:45 a.m. on Tuesday, April 24, 2007 at St. Joseph’s Home. Mary Evelyn was born on October 6, 1922 in New Berlin, the daughter of Michael and Agnes Sullivan Hickey. She married Fred A. Rechner, Sr. on September 18, 1951 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Springfield. She attended St. Joseph Catholic School and was a graduate of Ursuline Academy. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and Altar and Rosary Society. She was also a member of St. Louise de Marillac. Mary Evelyn enjoyed reading mystery books, working crossword puzzles, watching game shows, music and dancing. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren. Mary Evelyn was employed in the accounting department of CWLP and also had been employed at Heinemann Trophy Company. She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers: Raymond, Michael “Bud”, Leo and Franny Hickey and one sister, Agnes Mehlick. She is survived by her husband of fifty-five years, Frederick A. Rechner, Sr. of Springfield; two sons: Fred A. (wife, Cindy) Rechner, Jr. and Tom A. Rechner both of Springfield; one daughter, Trish (husband, Stephen) Squires of Springfield; seven grandchildren: Heather Julseth, Jason Rechner, Nikki Squires, Michael Rechner, Andrew Squires, Jeremy Willis and Megan Willis; one great grandson, Logan Julseth; one sister-in-law, Frances Hickey of Decatur and several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family welcomes friends to visit from 9:00 – 10:15 a.m. on Friday, April 27, 2007 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield. Concelebrated Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 27, 2007 at Blessed Sacrament Church, 1725 S. Walnut, Springfield with Rev. David Hoefler principal celebrant. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph's Home, 3306 S. 6th St. Rd. Springfield, IL 62703.
