Mary Sue Sours

Mary Sue Sours, 61, of New Berlin, passed away on Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at St. John's Hospital. Sue was born on June 21, 1947 in Springfield, the daughter of Harry W., Sr. and Peggy Ryan Paul. She married Thomas Sours on April 4, 1970 at St. Joseph Church in Springfield. Sue graduated from Ursuline Academy and went on to complete cosmetology school before beginning her career as a beautician. She later dedicated nearly 36 years as manager at St. John's Hospital Employees Federal Credit Union. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Berlin and a member of Sangamon Valley Chapter of Credit Unions, serving as chairman and various other positions. Sue enjoyed shopping and spending time with her family, especially her grandsons. Preceding Sue in death are her parents and brother, Robert F. Paul. She is survived by her husband, Thomas of New Berlin; her sons, Eric (companion, Amy Tomlin) and Ryan (wife, Jennifer) Sours, both of New Berlin; her grandsons, Jacob and Wyatt Sours; her sisters, Joy (husband, Tom) Bull of Chula Vista, CA and Linda (husband, Carl) Mayes of Springfield; her brothers, Harry (wife, Barb) Paul, Jr. of Glenarm and John (wife, Dawn) Paul of Springfield; in addition to one aunt, one uncle, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Family will receive friends from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 30, 2008 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 1, 2008 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 404 E. Birch St., New Berlin with Rev. Angel Sierra, celebrant. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
