

Mary "Sue" Lansden, 78, of Springfield, passed away at Memorial Hospital at 7:32 p.m. on Wednesday, February 15, 2017. Sue was born on June 23, 1938 in Decatur, the daughter of Michael and Doris Loftus. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Jim Loftus. Sue graduated from St. Teresa High School in Decatur and then obtained her nursing degree from Decatur Memorial Hospital School of Nursing and was a registered nurse before dedicating her life to raising her children. She married the love of her life, Richard Lansden on September 19, 1959 and he survives. Sue is also survived by her two children, Susan Lansden and Michael (Kary) Lansden, all of Springfield; grandchildren, Ryan Thomas, Allison Brasher and Clare, Grace, and Kaitlyn Lansden; and several nieces and nephews. Sue loved spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed playing bridge, needlepointing, knitting, gardening, reading, and vacationing with her husband to Naples, FL and Hilton Head, SC. Sue was an active volunteer for many non-profit organizations. Sue had a special place in her heart for her dogs, especially Daisy, Lucky, Troubles and her current pet, Cody. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. on Monday, February 20, 2017 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Funeral Ceremony: 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home with Celebrant Judy Woerner officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
