Matthew Thomas Eichinger

Matt was born July 19, 1986, in Escanaba, Michigan, to Dr. Harold David and Regina Ann Maurer Eichinger.

Matt was diagnosed with cancer in 1992 and suffered severe brain damage from cardiac arrest in the same year. He liked music, audiobooks, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and the Chicago Bulls. He loved being home with his mother and siblings.

He was preceded in death by his father in 1988.

He is survived by his mother of Springfield; four brothers, Daniel (wife, Amy) of Springfield, Stephen of New York, New York, Michael (Tiffani Allen) of Oakland, California, and Joseph of Springfield; one sister, Kathleen (husband, Brock Davis) of Peoria; two nephews; two nieces; numerous family members and friends; and his second family at Swann Special Care Center in Champaign.

Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 10, 2015, at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 South 6th Street, Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service.

Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 11, 2015, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 1725 South Walnut Street, Springfield, with Rev. Jeff Grant, celebrant.

Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center following ceremonies.

Burial will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery in Escanaba at a later date.
