

Max Neil Orr, 89, of Chatham, passed away on Sunday, December 30, 2018 at The Villas of Hollybrook in Chatham. Max was born on June 29,1929 in Vandalia, MO, the son of James and Edith Ellesberry Orr. He married Peggy Janes of Mexico, MO in 1948 and they were married 58 years; she preceded him in death on December 17, 2000. Also preceding him in death were three brothers, Burl Orr, Dean Orr and Leon Orr. Max is survived by his two daughters, Debra Kay (husband, Jack) Lorenson of Chatham, IL and Karen Lynn (husband, David) Molli of Asheville, NC; his four grandchildren, Jessica Lorenson and Matthew Lorenson of Springfield, IL, Alexa Molli and Sean Molli of Asheville, NC; and brother, Larry Orr of Mexico, MO. In 2001, Maxs path joined with Judy Bartholf of Springfield, IL and they shared 17 incredible years of companionship. Thank you for loving and supporting our dad for those many years. Max had a good life. He retired as President from International Vermiculite Company. He enjoyed traveling, golfing, and spending time with family and friends. Max always had a good story to tell that would make you smile and quite often make you laugh until you cried. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield.
