

Maxine Julia Gill, 95, of Riverton, died at 5:35 a.m. on Monday, January 1, 2018 at Auburn Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. Maxine was born May 31, 1922 in Springfield, the daughter of Burt and Julia Rape Bennett. She married Harry W. Gill, Sr; he preceded her in death. Maxine graduated from Springfield High School, class of 1937, and attended Browns Business College. She worked for the State of Illinois for two years, Sangamon County for 5 years, Farion Bockers for 15 years, and Oak Crest Country Club, as a cook, for 30 years. Maxine was a member of American Legion Post #32. She enjoyed watching her kids play sports. Maxine was also preceded in death by her parents; sons, William Gill and Mark Gill; daughters, Mary and Jeannie Gullo; brother, Burt Bennett Jr.; and sister, Marian Hibbs. She is survived by her sons, John Gullo of Las Vegas, NV and Harry (Rita) Gill of Springfield; twelve grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 9:00 - 10:45 a.m. on Monday, January 8, 2018 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th Street, Springfield. Funeral Ceremony: 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 8, 2018 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home with Rev. Cana Roth officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
