Michael L. Collins, Sr., 59, of Springfield, died on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at Memorial Medical Center. Michael was born December 13, 1951 in Springfield, the son of James H. and Martha Collins. Michael proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force and worked as a postal carrier for the U.S. Post Office for 26 years. After retiring from the post office, he worked as a driver for Springfield Mass Transit. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jim Collins; and sister, Linda Huff. He is survived by his son, Michael L. (wife, Trisha) Collins, Jr. of Springfield; daughter, Penny Strawn; 3 grandchildren, Shelby, Timothy and Natalie Strawn and brother, Larry (wife, Carol) Collins of IA. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 5:00 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 17, 2011 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield.
