Michael F. Merrell

Michael F. Merrell, 64, of Springfield, passed away at 1:05 p.m. on Friday, December 4, 2015 at his residence. Michael was born December 12, 1950 in Springfield, the son of Donald and Shirley Sperry Merrell. He married Cynthia McCombs on July 8, 1973. Michael attended New Berlin and Springfield schools. He was employed as a carpenter and worked in construction all of his life. He was a member of Roanoke Baptist Church and enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Sharon Franklin; and brother, Donald Merrell. He is survived by his wife, Cindy of Springfield; son, Jamie Merrell of Lincoln; daughters, Sandy (husband, Sean) Gettings of Springfield and Tina Merrell of Loami; three grandchildren, Samantha Merrell, Chaunna Merrell, and Dominic Gettings; brothers, Stephen (wife, Marsha) Merrell of Tallula, Anthony Merrell of Petersburg, and Arthur (wife, Julie) Hermes of New Berlin; one aunt and one uncle; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies. Graveside Ceremony: 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 11, 2015 at Roselawn Memorial Park with Pastor Tony Laughhunn officiating.
