I am deeply sorry for your loss.  Major Mike will always be remembered for his welcoming smile and concern for souls.  

I first met him at Camp Gene Eppley, where I worked in the dining hall.  He made mealtime fun for the campers he led and the camp staff that served.  

Whenever I think of him, I recall an encounter at an Army event.  He found me in the hallway trying to console a couple of antsy children.  He came up and asked me how my soul was.  He could see that I had my hands full, but he really wanted to make sure that I had a good, strong relationship with God.  He cared deeply about the spiritual health of the young people he ministered to. 

My thoughts are with your family during this difficult time.  May you find comfort in your memories of him.

And I never seen someone with so much hair. Mike you out with Jesus and may you rest in peace. May God comfort Judy and the rest of the family

I was honored to have known Mike since we were teenagers in the old WMNI Division. Mike was always a happy, funloving guy and never knew a stranger.- Blessings to Judy.

I cannot say enough about both Major Mike and Judy. I was able to be mentored and encouraged over a summer while on my internship with The Salvation Army in Souix Falls. They both showed me such love and helped me build character and leadership. 
Mike was always willing to drag me along to every opportunity and meeting he participated in so I could get every learning opportunity possible. He was always honest, transparent, joyful, and willing to share hard truths. I can say that both Mike and Judy have etched a huge memory on my heart and I thank God for them. I know Major Mike is laughing and joking with Jesus as we speak.

Majors Mike and Judy have been lifelong friends. Under their leadership, I was enrolled as a Senior Soldier of The Salvation Army. Mike's genuine interest and care for people, the embodiment of Christ's love and the joy it brings is what drew people to him and pointed them to Christ. 
Thank you for living and loving well, my friend. 
Thank you for helping me to become more like Christ. 
Well Done, you good and faithful servant of the Most High.

Dear Judy: It was a shock to see that the Major Michael J. Mills was someone I knew a long time ago. Please accept my sincere condolences/sympathies. We know that Mike is now in Heaven with our dear Savior Jesus Christ. So many loving memories ... be assured of my love and prayers for you and your family.  Jan (Richards) Braatz P.S. We were saddened on hearing of Mike's Promotion to Glory.  We have many wonderful memories of the time they were stationed in the Quad Cities.  What a wise and caring man of God he was.  What a friend to all.  Mike will, in the words of Charles Wesley, "Clothed in the rightness of Jesus, bold I approach the eternal throne and claim the crown, through Christ my own."  We send our prays to the many that Mike loved.

I loved the time  I spent  with Major Mike  and the friendship we developed while I was a cadet at CFOT (Heralds of Grace 2013-2015). He was always kind and provided pastoral care to all who needed.  Great Salvation Army officer who will be missed by many. May Major's Mike family be  surrounded  by the peace of God.

I was very young when Michael and Judy pastored the Streator, Illinois corps. But I can remember it like yesterday. I loved them both. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family.

So sorry for the loss of Mikey J.  He was a great man and we loved to call him our Salvation Army uncle. We have so many memories of him it is hard to pick one. Remember pinching his cheek and saying “that’s Italian”. He and my dad are playing tricks on Jesus and cheating at cards!

When I think of Mike, I see his big smile, crisp Salvation Army uniform, and I hear his voice, wise words and infectious laugh.  What an amazing neighbor, chaplain, friend, husband, father and grandfather.  A beautiful human.  Rest in peace, Mike.

Our hearts go out to the whole family at this sad loss. Mike was such a happy and gracious Christian man. His influence will long be felt in the lives of everyone he blessed along his life-journey.
