

Michael "Mick" Ramirez, 47, left this earth at 4:37 p.m. on Saturday, February 28, 2009 at home surrounded by his loved ones. Mick was born March 3rd, 1961 in Springfield to Phillip J. Ramirez, Sr. and Mary B. Dinora. He was preceded in death by both parents. Mick attended St. Aloysius School, Griffin High School, Lincoln Land Community College, Sangamon State University and Bradley University in Peoria. He married Darla Miller on November 13, 1982 at St. Aloysius Church. Mick was a lifelong member of St. Aloysius Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus #4175. He loved the Green Bay Packers and was also an avid NASCAR fan attending numerous races around the country. He was involved with the St. Al's Spaghetti Dinner and the SHG Blazer Classic and the SHG Booster Club. Mick was employed by the Secretary of State's office as Administrator of the Commercial and Farm Truck Division. He held himself to the highest degree of customer service and professionalism for the trucking industry. He held numerous past positions in the International Registration Plan (IRP), and he was on the Dispute Resolution Committee, Peer Review Committee. Mick was a past member of the NAFTA Committee, member of HVUT Ad-Hoc Committee of the AAMVA, past member of the Steering Committee of the Secretary of State for The Electronic One Stop Shop project, and past board member of the Trucker's Advisory Board. Mick was also an Instructor and Facilitator for MATS, NITES and the Illinois State Police and Commercial Vehicle Enforcement. He was also a certificate holder or Training Recipient for the U.S. Department of Transportation, Federal Highway Administration and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. He is survived by the love of his life, Darla and his three loving daughters, Natalie Anne, Anna Marie and Michele Renae; two sisters, Christine Ramirez-Campbell (husband, G. Dennis) and Nancy VonDeBur (husband, Philip); and a brother, Phillip Ramirez, Jr. (wife, Julia) all of Springfield; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Family will receive friends from 4:00 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 2119 N. 20th St., Springfield. Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church with Rev. Mark Schulte celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Michael Ramirez Education Fund for his daughters at National City Bank, 1897 E. Sangamon Ave., Springfield, IL 62702.
