

Milburn F. Marr of New Berlin passed away on June 7, 2013 at Lewis Memorial Christian Village in Springfield, IL. Milburn was born in Green County, KY on February 17, 1919, the son of Robert and Lulu Mays Marr. He married Marian Gebhart in January, 1944; she preceded him in death on March 25, 1985. He married Olga Gietl in November, 1986; she survives.
Milburn is also survived by his daughter, Barbara (James) Lestikow of Springfield; three sons, Ronald (Marcia) Marr of Springfield, Martin (Sheila) Marr of Jacksonville, and David (Patricia) Marr of New Berlin; three step-children, Jan Egizii of Springfield, Judy (Kelly) Conger of LeClaire, IA, and Gary Gietl of Springfield; seven grandchildren, Kerry (Kurt) Ingram, Martin (Darcy) Marr, Ashley Lowe, Erin Lestikow, Hannah Marr, Matthew Marr, and Evan Marr; eight great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Dixie Marr of Springfield and Robert Marr of Bloomington; sister, Jean Dunlap of Springfield; and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by very special friends, Patty and Rudy Rudolph of New Berlin. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Eva Fritch; and brother, Harold Marr.
Milburn was a graduate of New Berlin High School and a WWII veteran serving in Air/Sea Rescue Command of the U.S. Army Air Corp from 1941 to 1945. Upon his return, he worked at Pillsbury Mill and turned to farming in the New Berlin area for the remainder of his career. In his retirement, Milburn became a skilled woodworker producing furniture for family, neighbors, and friends. Milburn was a founding member and past Grand Knight of Knights of Columbus Council 4372 and American Legion Post 743.
Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 304 E. Birch St., New Berlin. Visitation will begin with a prayer service.
Concelebrated Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Rev. Msgr. John R. Ossola and Rev. Robert Spriggs, concelebrants. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in New Berlin with military honors.
