Monica M. McCormick

Monica was born September 11, 1939 in South Milwaukee, WI, the daughter of Frank and Isabel E. Van Ells Schultz. She married Joseph Patrick McCormick on June 20, 1959 in Wisconsin Dells, WI.

Monica was a 1957 graduate of Wisconsin Dells High School. She then went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree in Counseling from the University of Illinois at Springfield in 1992. Monica was a mother and household manager of a family of nine, raising her children in Baraboo, WI for 16 years. Early in her marriage she ran a wedding cake business. Monica would often teach baton twirling or bake cookies for some extra money. She was a volunteer at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Garden and Historic Clayville. Monica attended church every Sunday and read the Bible daily. She enjoyed baking, cooking, canning and sewing.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Thomas James McCormick.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph Patrick "Pat" McCormick of Springfield; four sons, Dennis (Marcia) McCormick of Springfield, Michael (Susie) McCormick of Sherman, Tim (Ana) McCormick of Sherman, and Dick (Maura) McCormick of Springfield; two daughters, Susan (Terry) Purcell of Springfield and Lisa McCormick of Springfield; fifteen grandchildren; three brothers, Richard (Eunice) Schultz of Wausau, WI, Bob (Judy) Schultz of Chatham, and John Schultz of Arkdale, WI; and one sister, Marie (Les) Kirchener of Arkdale, WI.

Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, November, 8, 2015 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th Street, Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service followed by family sharing.

Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November, 9, 2015 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 1930 Barberry Drive, Springfield, with Rev. Richard Chiola celebrant and Rev. Joseph Ring Concelebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
