

Morty was born on July 3, 1933, in Brooklyn, NY, the son of Juluis and Ceil (Katz) Behrens.
After graduating from high school, Morty proudly served his country in the United States Army, with assignments at the Pentagon, Fort Leonard Wood, and Fort Benning.
Following his military service, he channeled his dedication and work ethic into building a successful business, owning and operating Behrens Upholstery for nearly a quarter century, from 1958 to 1982. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Morty was a committed and valued member of Temple B’rith Sholom in Springfield, Illinois, where he found community and connection.
He is preceded by his parents, and brothers, Herb and Roy Behrens.
Morty is survived by his four nieces: Marilyn (Steve) Schmitz of Springfield, Janet Behrens of Chatham, IL, Alane Breitmeyer of Warrenton, OR and Julie (Michael) Granda of Nashville, TN, his nephew, Michael Behrens of Tucson, AZ, his sister-in-law, Barbara Behrens of Tucson, AZ, and step-son, John Bush.
The family will hold private services officiated by Rabbi Greg Kanter.
