

Muriel was born in Springfield on June 3, 1944, the daughter of Siebert and Helen McLaughlin. She married Carlin R. Baker on February 28, 1964 in Springfield. Carlin preceded her in death on September 25, 2009.
After graduating from high school, Muriel worked for Franklin Life Insurance. She also worked for District 186 as a teacher’s aide at Douglas School. Muriel enjoyed NASCAR and was a Dale Earnhardt, Sr. fan. She liked playing cards, spending time with family, especially her grandchildren, and her dog, Sophie.
Muriel was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Robert McLaughlin; and sisters, Doris Wanless, Lula Angeli, Mildred Petchen, Margaret Neal, and JoAnn Carver.
She is survived by her sons, Brian Baker, and Brett (Bridgette) Baker; daughter, Lisa Lohr; five grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; siblings, Siebert “Sonny” McLaughlin, Charles “Chuck” McLaughlin, Kenneth “Ivan” McLaughlin, Elsie “Sissy” Myers, Dorothy Kay Hohimer, and Cathy Roscetti; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Graveside Ceremony: 11 a.m. on Friday, October 16, 2020 at Oak Ridge Cemetery with Celebrant Judy Woerner, officiating.
The family is being served by Boardman-Smith Funeral Home, 800 S. Grand Ave. West, Springfield.
