

Noemi Vega Gietl, 49, of Springfield, died at 7:55 a.m. on Thursday, April 21, 2005 at her brothers residence. Noemi was born on December 26, 1955 in Baybay Leyte, Philippines, the daughter of Felimon and Leonila Vega Sosmena, Sr. She received a Bachelors degree in Business Administration and Banking Finance. She retired from Memorial Medical Center after twenty-two years as a unit clerk and also had been employed at SIU School of Medicine as an insurance referral specialist. Noemi is survived by one son: Jason Gietl of Springfield; one daughter: Sandra Gietl of Springfield; five sisters: Leonifel V. Thompson of Springfield, Linette V. (husband, Ismail) Elsayed of Springfield, Edith V. (husband, Robert) Parker of Las Vegas, Brenda S. (husband, Rafael) Wong of Manila, Philippines, Irma S. Lerey of Manila, Philippines; two brothers: Felimon V. (wife, Carol) Sosmena, Jr. of Springfield, Eli Boy V. Sosmena of Manila, Philippines; several nieces and nephews including her niece: Elea Harrison of West Palm Beach, FL; family friends: Frank Jimenez of Springfield and Greg McAllister of Springfield; and past husband: Thomas Gietl. Cremation accorded by Cremation Tribute Center, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 24, 2005 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield with Gary Spencer officiating. The family of Noemi Vega Gietl is being served by Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home and Cremation Tribute Center, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield.
