

Norma was born December 13, 1942, in Carlinville, IL, the daughter of Lloyd and Lucille Loveless Fenton. She married Tom “Dean” Snyder on November 27, 1968 at Pleasant Hill Christian Church in Raymond, IL. Norma and Dean were known for their strong commitment to one another.
Norma graduated high school in Alaska and attended Lincoln Land Community College. She was employed with Bell Telephone for 21 years and then with Julie Davis Realtors. Throughout her life, she enjoyed sewing, painting, and volunteering at her daughters’ school. Norma was in an accident that left her blind but she remained positive throughout these hardships. She learned how to knit, she learned braille, and made books for the blind. Norma especially loved spending time with her family and dancing with Dean. She loved her grandchildren and loved being present for their activities. She was a member of West Side Christian Church for 40 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers-in-law, Jack Snyder and Larry “Bud” Snyder.
Norma is survived by her husband Dean Snyder of Springfield; daughters, Tricia (Brian) Giacomini and their children, Caleb, Jessica, and Jacob Giacomini of Springfield, Melinda (Lance) Ely and their children, Adam (Darby) and Zach Ely of Sherman, and Susan (Ben) Berry and their children, Olivia (Trent) Blakeley, Garrett Snyder, and Nathaniel and Lori Berry of Springfield; one great-grandchild on the way; sisters, Doris (Wayne) Garrison of Nashville, TN, Janet (Harvey) Woodman of Litchfield, and Karen (Grant) Schoon of Akron, OH; sisters-in-law, Mary Snyder and Linda Snyder; brother-in-law, Randy (Christa) Snyder; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; her beloved dog, Trisket; and many beloved friends, including lifelong friend, Judy Huffstodt.
Visitation and Funeral Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:45 a.m. on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at Cherry Hills Church, 2125 Woodside Rd., Springfield, IL. A Funeral Ceremony will follow at 12:00 p.m. with Rev. Cliff Woodman, officiating.
Cremation will be provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center following ceremonies.
