

Pamela Jean Ramirez, 48, of Springfield, died at 1:32 p.m. on Tuesday, May 9, 2006 at St. John’s Hospital. Pamela was born on July 30, 1957, in Springfield, the daughter James O. and Laura Jannette Barnett Johnson, Sr. She married Randy Ramirez on July 15, 1978 in Springfield. She was a graduate of Lincoln Land Community College and the University of Illinois at Springfield. She was a member of Third Presbyterian Church where she served as a Deacon. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and also participated in the American Cancer Association Relay for Life for ten years. She was employed at the State of Illinois for twenty-seven years; most recently for the Department of Natural Resources, as the Supervisor of Computer Operations. She loved to shop, cook and travel. Pamela was a courageous, caring lady who will be remembered for her great sense of humor and her compassion. She was preceded in death by her father: James O. Johnson, Sr. She is survived by her mother: Jannette Johnson of Springfield; her husband: Randy Ramirez of Springfield; one son: Chase Robert Ramirez of Springfield; one daughter: Rachael Anne Ramirez of Springfield; three brothers: James O. (wife, Sandra) Johnson, Jr. of Carlinville, Edward (wife, Mary) Johnson of Rochester and Randall (wife, Else) Johnson of Elmhurst; two uncles and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 14, 2006 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. An additional visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 15, 2006 at Third Presbyterian Church. 1030 N. 7th St., Springfield. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 15, 2006 at Third Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Brent Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
