

Patrick Flynn Elchlepp, 47, of Springfield, passed away at 8:25 p.m. on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at Memorial Medical Center. Patrick was born August 13, 1968 in Springfield, the son of Alvin R. and Marjorie F. Flynn Elchlepp. Patrick was a graduate of Sacred Heart- Griffin and attended Eastern Illinois University and UIS. He was a lifelong Springfield resident, who loved his family and work. Patrick had been employed with Lincoln Library for over 20 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed flower gardening, reading, playing tennis and spending time with his dog, Bass. He was preceded in death by his father; grandparents, William and Bess Flynn; and uncle, Tom Flynn. He is survived by his mother, Marjorie F. Flynn of Springfield; four aunts and uncles, Joan (husband, Walter) Hodde, Pat Hanken, Judy Flynn, and Don (wife, Alice) Elchlepp; and several cousins. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 29, 2015 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service. Funeral Mass: 12:00 p.m. on Monday, November 30, 2015 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 1725 South Walnut St., Springfield with Rev. Jeff Grant officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mark's Cemetery in Winchester.
