Patrick T. McGuire

Patrick T. McGuire, Sr., 64, of Springfield, died at 4:15 p.m. on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at his home. Patrick was born on August 24, 1948 in Springfield, the son of Francis and Dorothy Lester McGuire. He married Sandra L. Roscoe on November 4, 1966 in Donaldson, TN. Patrick graduated from Lanphier High School in 1966. He worked as a meter man his whole life, working for CIPS, Sangamo Electric and most recently Ameren, where he was employed for 25 years. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus #4175 where he operated BINGO every week, Adopt a Road, Son of American Legion volunteer, and volunteered at Big Brother, Big Sister. He enjoyed watching sports, especially Notre Dame football, bowling, collecting baseball cards, travelling, and most importantly spending time with his family, especially his granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Sandra L. McGuire of Springfield; son, Patrick McGuire, Jr. of Edwardsville; two granddaughters, Bailey and Colleen McGuire; sister, Regina McGuire of Springfield; and brother, Donald (wife, Phyllis) McGuire of Springfield; two aunts, Mary Buchanan and Myrna Lester; a niece, nephew and several cousins. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1345 N. 6th St., Springfield with Rev. Steven Janoski, celebrant. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
