

Patrick was born March 17, 1943, in Springfield, the son of George E. and Bernadette Atterberry Roy.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War where he received the Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, and the Marksman Riffle Badge. Patrick worked for Van Pickerill and Son for 17 years and Anheuser-Busch (Shaffer and Sons) for 9 years. He then trained for Springfield Fire Department Training Center in the maintenance department. Patrick was a member of VFW Post #10302, Sangamo Surf Club, Marine Corps Prairie Land Leathernecks Detachment #1385, and Springfield Navy Club #32. He enjoyed fishing and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Minnesota Vikings fan.
Patrick was preceded in death by his parents; son, Patrick Michael Roy; companion of over thirty-five years, Julie Durheim; and brother, George Roy.
He is survived by his stepdaughter, Karen (Chris) Hocker of Litchfield; step-granddaughter, Amber (fiancé, Craig Baskin) Durheim of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; step-great-grandchildren, Alexander Avendono, Asheya Mabon, Markel Mabon, and Savion Baskin; step-great-great-grandchild, Kinsley Avendono; sister, Margaret Angeli of Springfield; three nieces; and two nephews.
Cremation was provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center.
Private family graveside will be held with military honors.
