

Paul "Butch" Ford, 71, of Springfield, passed away October 1, 2008 at Fawcett Memorial Hospital in Port Charlotte, FL. Butch was born October 6, 1936 in Springfield, the son of Paul B. and Marie Joan Heins Ford. He married Barbara Stokesbary on January 18, 1958 in Springfield. She preceded him in death. Butch graduated from Cathedral Boys High School, going on to serve his country in the Air Force Reserve. He began his career as a plasterer then moved on to co-own and operate B&J Builders. He was also employed by Frye-Williamson Press until he became owner and operator of The Cottage Inn for 25 years, retiring in 1999. Butch enjoyed spending time with his friends and family. He enjoyed all sports and was an avid golfer. He looked forward to spending his winters in South Florida. Butch was a member of St. Joseph Parish, Elks Club, Eagles Club, American Legion, and charter member of the Anchor Boat Club. Butch was also preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his children, Lori (husband, Steve) Gumble, Linda (husband, Robie) Strayer, Jeffrey (wife, Carolyn) Ford, and Jennifer (husband, Don) Heaton all of Springfield; six grandchildren, Jennifer, Nicholas, Alexia, Jessica, Kyle, and Ellie; three great grandchildren, Bryson, and twins, Hailie and Kali; his brothers, Thomas (wife, Mary) Ford and Donald Ford both of Springfield; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday, October 6, 2008 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 7, 2008 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1345 N. 6th St., Springfield with Rev. Msgr. David S. Lantz, celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
