Peter K. Woody

Peter K. Woody, 63, a resident of Springfield for most of his life, died at 12:55 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 5, 2006 at St. John’s Hospice. He was born on February 10, 1943 in Chicago, the son of Dr. H.Glenn and Anita Kort Woody. He was previously married to Jeanne O’Shea. He received his Bachelors Degree from McMurray College in Jacksonville, IL, and was a graduate of the University of Missouri at Kansas City – Law School. He was a self-employed attorney for many years, followed by several years of advertising and marketing. He served in the Illinois Air Guard for six years. Peter was a past member of the Sangamon County Bar Association, the Illinois State Bar Association and the Illini Country Club. He coached and refereed soccer for YMCA teams for many years. Peter was a patient and kind gentleman, loved by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by one son, Jason K. Woody of Champaign; two daughters: Jennifer (husband, Tim) Rottinghaus of Rochester and Katelyn J. Woody of Springfield; two grandsons: Jacob and Zachary Rottinghaus; two brothers: Bruce (wife, Jeanne) Woody of FL and John Woody of FL; three sisters: Debbie (husband, Ted) Megginson of Auburn, Beth (husband, Mike) Neighbors of Springfield and Sara (husband, Randy) White of Bloomington. Family welcomes friends to visit from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 8, 2006 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield. Funeral Ceremonies will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, October 9, 2006 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home with Cindy Lash officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Clear Lake Township, Sangamon County, Illinois. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Hospice, 800 E.
