She was born on April 1,1930, in Michigan City, Indiana, the daughter of Albert M. and Olive Wagner-Frost. She married Joseph (Jay) Hunsaker at New York Avenue Presbyterian Church, Washington, DC on March 2, 1952. He preceded her in death on May 28, 2015.
Phyllis loved her family and the many family gatherings. She was an active member of the Cotton Hill UMC. Phyllis enjoyed traveling in our country and Europe, loved music, singing, and at one time being a part of a harp circle playing her harp.
Her parents; daughter, Karen Embry; son, Timothy Hunsaker; brother, Edward Frost; sister-in-law, Margaret Frost; and brother-in-law, Jimmie Hunsaker also preceded her in death.
She is survived by grand daughter, Katie Embry (Michael) of Nantucket MA; grandson, Daniel Embry (Sarah) of Springfield, IL; great-grandson, Nicholas Sirtout of Springfield, IL; daughter, Pamela Yancey-Redmond (David) of Springfield, IL; sister-in-law, Annette Hunsaker; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Cremation was provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center.
Memorial Gathering and Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until the time of the ceremony at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at Cotton Hill United Methodist Church, 5931 N. Cotton Hill Rd., Springfield, IL with Michael Madden officiating.
Private burial will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cotton Hill United Methodist Church.
