He was born on May 14, 1926 in Springfield, the son of Carol and Fern (Bratton) Desch.
Ray graduated from Springfield High School in 1944. After high school, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. Ray worked for FW Dodge Corporation which later became the McGraw Hill Company, where he reported construction news. He loved traveling, particularly to Italy, and enjoyed gardening.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Joe, Carl and Kenneth Desch; and sister, Clara McGrath.
Ray is survived by his friend of 52 years, Tom Ervin of Springfield; and several nephews, great-nephews and great-nieces.
Cremation was provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center.
Per Ray’s request, no ceremonies were held.
