Ramona Sue Lindberg passed away on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at her home in Springfield, IL. "Mona," as friends and family knew her, was born in Granite City, IL on January 11, 1955. She started her career at Mercantile Bank in St. Louis. In the mid-90s Mona moved to Springfield where she started a long career as a hair stylist, eventually owning her own business, About Your Hair, for several years. Later in life, Mona took a job at Schnucks, where she brightened her customers days with her infectious laugh and booming voice. A beautiful and vibrant woman, Mona never met a stranger. Her clients and customers quickly became friends, as it was impossible to know Mona and not love her. An avid lover of the outdoors, Mona enjoyed camping, fishing and canoeing. It was on a canoe trip in 1994 where she met her husband, David, on the Jacks Fork River in the Missouri Ozarks, a special destination for the both of them for years to come. Mona had a green thumb as evident by the abundance of plants throughout her house. Chances are if you came in touch with Mona, at some point you've ended up with one of her plant cuttings. Mona was preceded in death by her mother and father, Shirley and James Smith of Granite City. She leaves behind her husband of 13 years, David Lindberg; their dog, Henry; sister, Cathleen (Vince) Adler of Highland, IL; brother, Lacy Brazel of Granite City; sister- in- law, Lauren (Jay) Tomten of Springfield; and brother- in- law, Eric (Ana) Lindberg of North Carolina. While Mona did not have children of her own, she was the best aunt. Always armed with BIG hugs, kisses and candy. A visit from Auntie Mona was always special and will be remembered by her many nieces and nephews. Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies. Memorial Gathering: Family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 14, 2018 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield.
