

Raymond Lawrence Carpenter, 94, of Springfield, formerly of Collinsville and Edwardsville, died at 5:24 p.m. on Wednesday, June 20, 2001 at St. Joseph's Home in Springfield. He was born on March 12, 1907 the son of Frank and Emma Muskopf Carpenter in Collinsville, IL. He married Alice Bernasco on January 26, 1935 in Collinsville and she survives. Mr. Carpenter retired from McDonnell Douglas Aircraft in 1972. He was a member of St. Agnes Church, life member of the Knights of Columbus Council #364, and a life member of the International Order of Machinists and Aerospace Workers. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, and a brother. He is survived by his wife: Alice of Springfield; two sons: Richard (wife, Nancee) of Castle Rock, CO, and Thomas of Honolulu, HI; a daughter: Anna Marie Coultas of Edwardsville, IL; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren. Friends may call at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, June 22, 2001, with a Wake Service at 4 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at 9 a.m., Saturday, June 23, 2001 at St. Agnes Church with the Very Rev. Patrick Wright V.F. celebrant. Burial will be in Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery in Collinsville at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 23, 2001.
