

He was born on October 10, 1922 in Neligh, NB, the son of Victor J. and Mary M. Kandyba Hoffman. He married Anna Matosich on February 15, 1947 in Chicago; she preceded him in death in 2007.
Raymond served in the United States Navy during WWII (1942-1946). He worked 13 years for Central Office Furniture where he was general manager. In 1963 he partnered with Herb Wiley of Wiley Office Equipment and started the furniture division. In 1975, he became owner and president of Wiley Office Equipment and was joined by his sons Ken and John. Raymond retired in 1997.
He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, the Navy League of the United States, the Sangamo Club, and was a 50 year member of the Lions Club. Raymond enjoyed playing bridge, bowling, golfing, and watching Cardinals baseball.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; and five brothers, Joseph, Robert, Edward, Frederick, and Leonard Hoffman.
Raymond is survived by two sons: John (wife, Susie) Hoffman of Springfield and Ken (wife, Shelley) Hoffman of Chatham; two grandchildren: Zachary (wife, Hana) Hoffman of Chatham and Victor Hoffman of Springfield; two great-grandchildren: Nicholas and Alicia Hoffman of Chatham; a brother, Omer (wife, Joan) Hoffman of Clearwater, NB; a niece Holly Hoffman; and nephews, Greg (wife, Mary Jo) Hoffman and Dave (wife, Sue) Wyness.
Family will welcome friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 9, 2010 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Funeral Mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, December 10, 2010 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 1930 Barberry, Springfield, with Rev. Msgr. David S. Lantz, celebrant.
Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery with military honors.
