
Richard Manning Armstrong, 51, of Indianapolis, IN, formerly of Springfield, died at 11:42 p.m. on Tuesday, April 12, 2005 at St. Vincent’s Hospice in Indianapolis, IN. Richard was born May 3, 1953 in Springfield, IL, the son of Robert Thomas and Jacqueline Thompson Armstrong. He received his BA in Communications from Sangamon State University in 1976. He married Sarah Snelson on May 27, 1978 in Decatur. He was employed for twenty-five years as a clothing buyer and most recently as a realtor. He was preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his wife: Sarah Armstrong of Indianapolis, IN; mother: Jacqueline Armstong of Springfield; one brother: David (wife, Sharen) Armstrong of Elkhart, IN;three sisters: Mary Elizabeth (husband, Alan) Watts of Springfield, Jane (husband, Gene) Schmittgens of Manchester, MO, Susan (husband, John) Luckey of Rochester; two uncles and several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive friends from 10:30 am – 11:30 am on Saturday, April 16, 2005 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield. Funeral Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, April 16, 2005 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home with Rev. Msgr. Kevin Vann officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
