

Richard Lowe, 84, of Springfield, passed away at 8:55 a.m. on Sunday, December 4, 2011 at Lewis Memorial Christian Village. Richard was born February 6, 1927 in Decatur, one of six children, the son of Myron and Augusta Laskowski Lowe. Richard attended St. John's Elementary and Decatur High School. Following high school, he proudly served his country through WWII, Korean War, and Vietnam War with the United States Army. He retired from the military in 1967 and then worked for the Department of the Public Health. Richard was known for being reliable, trustworthy, and helpful. His sons and grandchildren were very important to him. In his spare time, he enjoyed listening to talk radio, fishing, reading western books, and watching western movies. He is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by two sons, Harald (wife, Jackie) Lausen of Springfield and Mark (wife, Susanne) Lowe of Widdern, Germany; four grandchildren, Ava and Lauren Lausen, and Hannah and Laura Lowe; sister, Mary Snay of Kentwood, MI; and dear friend, Esther Lausen. Graveside Ceremony: 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 8, 2011 at Camp Butler National Cemetery with Rev. Wayne Hoffman officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County.
