Ricky Eugene Young

Ricky Eugene Young, 45, of Springfield, passed away at 11:59 a.m. on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at Memorial Medical Center. Ricky was born on January 22, 1973 in Springfield, the son of Forrest Arthur and Ramona "Jackie" Meece Young. Ricky attended PORTA High School. He enjoyed playing basketball. He was preceded in death by his son, Curtis Michael Taapken; paternal grandparents, James Albert and Emma Irene Young; and maternal grandparents, Clarence and Nola Meece. He is survived by two children, Camrin and Samantha Young, both of Petersburg; mother, Jackie Atteberry of Ashland; father, Forrest (companion, Stacey Brown) Young of Tallula; three siblings, Rodney Allen Young of Springfield, Randall Wayne Young of Springfield, and Rachel K. (Michael) Shay of Petersburg; step-siblings, Tray Atteberry of Ashland, Amanda Brown, Zachary Brown, Dustin Brown and Codie Brown, all of Tallula; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation and Funeral Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. on Friday, December 21, 2018 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. A Funeral Ceremony will be held at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Rob Gallion officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Tallula.
