

Robert "Bob" Cash, 60, of Springfield, died April 17, 2008 at his home. Bob was born on June 16, 1947 in Kankakee, the son of Wilbur J. and Helen F. Richards Cash. Bob retired as a manager with SBC in 2000 after a 30-year telephone company career that began with Illinois Bell. When he wasn't volunteering at the Dana-Thomas House, Bob enjoyed spending time at the Elks Lodge enjoying a Manhattan with friends. Bob was a University of Illinois Extension Master Gardener, helped care for the Extension's Perennial Garden at the Illinois State Fairgrounds, and was known as the rose expert. He took great pride in his home and yard. Bob also had an interest in agriculture and often participated in the planting and harvesting at his farm. Bob was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his brother, Bill (wife, Ruth) Cash of Mt. Juliet, TN; stepdaughters; Heidi Rubley of Baton Rouge, LA and Jennifer (husband, Ken) Reid of Chatham; step-grandchildren Sydney Setzer of Chatham, Phoenix Rubley, Raven and Alexis LeBlanc all of Baton Rouge LA; his nephew, Robert (wife, Helene) Cash of Mt. Juliet, TN, and many friends. Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies. Family will receive friends for a memorial gathering from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. on Saturday, April 26, 2008 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. A memorial ceremony will follow at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 26, 2008 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Private burial will be at Memorial Garden Cemetery in Kankakee, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to the Dana-Thomas House, 301 E.
