Robert "Bob" Edwards

Bob was born October 10, 1933, in French Camp, MS, the son of Robert Houston and Ruby Emma Curtis Edwards. He married Norma Jean Lascody on June 7, 1958, in Springfield, IL.

Bob graduated from French Camp High School in French Camp, MS. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force and was employed with Illinois Bell Telephone until the time of his retirement. Bob was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, the American Legion, and the VFW. He enjoyed dining out, RV camping, and traveling.

He was preceded in death by his parents; great-grandchildren, Cooper Riley Edwards and Emerson Workman; sister, Dorothy Campbell; and two brothers, Hubert and Jerry Edwards.

Bob is survived by his wife, Norma Edwards of Springfield; his children, Robert “Bob” G. Jr. (Denise) Edwards of Springfield, Sherri (James) Kavish of Springfield, and Dean A. (fiancée, April) Edwards of Lonedale, MO; grandchildren, Amanda (Heath) Workman, Jessica (Craig) Davis, Donovan (Ljubica) Kavish, Nicholas (Shannon) Kavish, Lindsey Kavish, Brennan King, Dean “D.J.” Edwards, Zachary (fiancée, Dayln) Edwards, and Dillon Edwards; nineteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Cremation was provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center.

Funeral Ceremony: 11:30 a.m. on Friday, July 23, 2021, at Butler Funeral Home-Springfield, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield, IL with Rev. Daniel J. Bergbower, V.F. officiating.

Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery with military honors provided by the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County and the Department of Defense.
