Robert John “Jack” Fagan, 45, of Sevierville, Tennessee (better known as Bob in his Springfield years), passed away Thursday, September 28, 2006. Jack was born in Springfield, on February 18, 1961, the son of Donald J. and Barbara Jane “BJ” Elliott Fagan. Jack graduated from Springfield High School in 1979. He attended Arizona State University in Tempe. He worked in sales, and was a very successful television and radio sports producer in the Twin Cities (MN), garnering two Emmy's during that time. Jack had many talents. He loved nature, sunrises, sunsets, and his beautiful mountains, both in Tennessee and Arizona. He had a great sense of humor and kept people laughing - often at himself. He was a great competitive swimmer as a young lad, especially excelling in the breaststroke and the distance freestyle. He loved all kinds of music and sang with the youth choir at Westminster Presbyterian Church, where he was also a junior deacon. He was always an avid sports fan, and remained true to his beloved St. Louis Cardinals all his life - agonizing with their defeats and celebrating with their victories. Jack loved his family, friends, and animals of all descriptions, especially dogs - and sorrowed greatly when he lost his 'best friend,' Irwin, a dachshund, a few years ago. Jack loved the Lord, and we rejoice that he has found eternal peace with Him. Jack's warm, friendly, and caring manner will be greatly missed by all who were touched by it. His many 'random acts of kindness' were felt by many, but probably most especially by his loving mom. He is survived by his mother, Barbara Jane “BJ” Fagan Croonquist; one brother, Bill (wife, Laura) of Irving, TX; one nephew: J.D. Fagan; one niece: Alissa Fagan ; one aunt: Judy Ertz (husband, Richard) of San Jacinto, CA and several cousins including: Janet (husband, Jim) Degonda and family. Jack was preceded in death by his beloved father, three beloved cousins, and most recently, his step-dad, David Croonquist, and his adored Aunt Margie Haig (whom he called 'Auntie 'M' '). Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 5, 2006 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 533 S. Walnut, Springfield, with Rev. Mark Merrill officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to: Animal Protective League, 1001 Taintor Rd., Springfield, Illinois 62702. The family of Robert John “Jack” Fagan is being served by Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield.
