

Robert W. "Bob" Hawkins, 73, of Springfield, died at 10:06 a.m. on November 25, 2011 at his home. Robert was born on February 16, 1938 in Springfield, the son of Russell and Eula Teater Hawkins. He married Joyce Freeman. Robert served his country in the United States Army Reserve for 6 years and owned and operated Hawkins Electronics. He was a member of Local 138 Theatrical Stage Employees Union from 1967 to the present and the Local 193 Electrician's Union from 1956 to the present. He enjoyed photography, was a motorcycle and sports car enthusiast, and was an announcer at the drag races. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Barbara Ann Hawkins. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Hawkins of Springfield; three daughters, Debby (Scott) Cowan of Dawson, Barbara Ann (Brad) Ward of Palm Coast, FL, and Kelly (Tim) Murphy of Bloomington, IN; nine grandchildren, Dawn (Patrick) Phillips, Eric (Kim) Cowan, Demmon Guimard, Justin (Janice) Cowan, Brett (Colene Stoernell) Guimard, Andy Ward, Emily (Chad) Baldwin, Aaron Ward, and Genevieve Murphy; seven great-grandchildren, Caragan and Kelby Phillips, Addison Guimard, Preston, Haylee and Bradley Cowan and Elaina Baldwin; brother, Russell Hawkins of Bastrop, TX; two brothers-in-law, Thomas (Theresa) Freeman of Sherman and Robert (Chris) Freeman of Sacramento, CA; one nephew, Kyle Freeman; four nieces, Miranda Freeman, Maria Beaupre, Pat Freeman and Carol Freeman; many cousins; and many great-nieces and nephews Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies.
