Robert Allen Miller

Robert Allen Miller, 69, of Riverton, passed away at 7:02 p.m. on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at St. John's Hospice as a result of a farming accident. Allen was born April 2, 1942 in Springfield, the son of Robert and Mary Cromley Miller. He married Nancy Drennan on August 20, 1960 in Mechanicsburg. Allen was known for being a dedicated family man and a hard worker. He was a dairy cattle and grain farmer his whole life and was a member of the American Jersey Cattle Club. He very much enjoyed showing his Jersey Cattle on local and national levels. Allen was also a mail carrier for more than 30 years until his retirement. He is preceded in death by his grandparents and his mother. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Miller of Riverton; his father, Robert E. Miller of Dawson; three children, Pamela (husband, Patrick) Johnson of Rochester, Robert W. (wife, Marsha) Miller of Pleasant Plains, and Cynthia (husband, Frank) Strainis of Granger, IN; eight grandchildren, Katie and Michael Johnson of Rochester, Adam, Taylor, Walker, and Helena Miller of Pleasant Plains, and Megan and Madison Strainis of Granger, IN; four siblings, Donn (wife, Natalie) Miller and Kay Bedoli both of Riverton, John Miller of Dawson, and Julie (husband, Bill) Leefers of Carlinville; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 South 6th St., Springfield. Funeral Ceremony: 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 2, 2011 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home with Celebrant Judy Woerner officiating. Burial will follow at Mechanicsburg Cemetery.
