

Robert T. "Bob" Parker, 80, of Springfield, died on Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at his home. Bob was born November 21, 1930 in Los Angeles, CA, the son of Thomas and Rose Rees Parker. He married Shirley Cavanaugh in January of 1956. Bob was a Sheet Metal Worker in the Union Local 218, where he had served as past president and on the executive board. He proudly served our country in the Navy and was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Bob was a hard-working and happy man who enjoyed deer and turkey hunting and being outdoors. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Parker of Springfield; children, Joe (Teresa) Parker of Chatham, Kevin Parker (Brenda Britenstine) of Chatham, Doug Parker (Lori Downs) of Sherman, Lori (Marty) Parker-Meier of Loami and Tom (Amanda) Parker of Springfield; grandchildren, Corey, Shane, Trevor, Danielle, Tara, Cailey, Cody and Wyatt Parker; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies. Memorial Gathering: Family will receive friends from 4:30-7:30 p.m. on Friday, September 23, 2011 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield, IL. Memorial Ceremony: 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
