Robert Eugene Springer

Robert Eugene Springer, 63, of Springfield, passed away on Tuesday evening September 9, 2014 at St. John’s Hospice. He was born on April 6, 1951 in Springfield to Robert Sims and Mary Dougal Springer. Robert married Jayne Ann LeGrand in Springfield on July 15, 1989 and she survives.

Mr. Springer is also survived by one son Adam (Mollie) Springer of Springfield, one daughter Julie Springer of New Berlin, one sister Mary Lou (Steve) Thomas and four grandchildren: Madison, Tyler, and Beau Springer, and Jake Cowman.

Robert retired from the Illinois Secretary of State as a labor foreman in 2000 after thirty years of service. He was an avid golfer, bowler, St. Louis Cardinal fan and overall sports enthusiast who enjoyed socializing with friends at many local establishments and he was a member of several clubs in the Springfield area. Robert loved gardening and he cherished spending time with his beloved grandchildren who affectionately called him “Popo.”

A memorial service will be held at 12:00pm on Saturday September 13, 2014 at Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 Koke Mill Road. The family will meet friends for a memorial visitation from 3:00pm-7:00pm Friday at Bisch West.
