He was born on June 21, 1939 in Carlinville, IL, the son of the late Harold and Mae (Loveless) Wylder. He married Nancy Burns on October 21, 1961 in Clinton, IL and she preceded him in death on January 27, 2022.
Robert worked as a teacher for Lanphier High School in Springfield for many years, retiring in 1994. After retirement, he worked auction sales for several years. He was a member of Lincoln Land Retired Teachers, the National Education Association, the Springfield Education Association, and the Ansar Shrine in Springfield.
He is survived by his 2 sons, John F. (wife Charla) Wylder of Springfield and James R. (wife Kristin) Wylder of Chicago, IL; 3 grandchildren, Matthew Wylder, Adam Wylder, and Rose (husband Philip Erikson) Stone-Wylder; 2 sisters, Donna M. Walters of Springfield and Dianne L. (husband Al) Fulton of Springfield; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog “Chaney”
Arrangements are under the direction of Bisch and Son Funeral Home, 505 E. Allen, Springfield, where a Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, October 6, 2023 from 10 am until 12 Noon. Per his wishes, cremation rites were accorded.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
