

Robert "Bob" Young, 70, of Loami, died at 11:03 a.m. on Sunday, April 30, 2017 at his home. Bob was born on October 2, 1946 in Springfield, the son of Henry Howard and June Irene Beck Young. He married Charlotte Jean Dexheimer on April 30, 1993 in Springfield. Bob graduated from Feitshans High School. He retired from the Illinois Department of Revenue after more than 20 years of service. He was an excellent drummer and played for numerous bands over the years. He enjoyed fishing and was an avid Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs fan. Bob was known by many. Whether you called him Husband, Dad, Grandpa, Brother, Uncle, Grandpa Bob, Uncle Bob, or just Bob, to know him was to love him. He had an infectious laugh and a glimmer in his eye. He appreciated the simple things in life. He came in that way and left the same wayhappy and unburdened. He was a "dyed in the wool" Cubs fan, but Cardinals fans were welcome, as well. Bob was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Jean Young of Loami; two daughters, Rhonda (Mark) Snyder and Darci McCoy, both of Springfield; son, Jay Young of Springfield; step-sons, Lyle Park of New Berlin and Darrell Park of Loami; seven grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; siblings, Randall (Sylvia) Young of WA, Danny (Connie) Young of Tallulah; Nancy Morrison and Christopher (Annette) Young, both of Springfield; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Cremation care will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center. Bobs family and friends will hold a Celebration of Life at the Trails End Saloon, 6445 Old Rte. 54, Curran, at a later date. If you watched a ballgame with him, fished with him, played music with him, or just shared a beer, a laugh, or a story, come by as we wish him well in Rock and Roll Heaven.
